This week, our theme is “Quick Board Games”. These games can be played in under 20 minutes. In our board game cafe, these types of games are often played before escape room bookings, when players have a short amount of time to play a board game but are still looking for some gaming fun!
Here are our quick board game recommendations:
Balduin, the house ghost, found an old camera in the castle cellar. Immediately he photographed everything that he loves to make disappear when he is haunting – including himself, of course. Unfortunately, the enchanted camera takes many photos in the wrong colours. Sometimes the green bottle is white, at other times it's blue. Looking at the photos, Balduin doesn't really remember any more what he wanted to make disappear next. Can you help him with his haunting and quickly name the right item, or even make it disappear by yourself? If you grab the right items quickly, you have a good chance of winning...
The lightning-fast shape and colour recognition game that is sure to test the reflexes of kids, families and gamers alike. In Ghost Blitz, five wooden items sit on the table waiting to be caught: a white ghost, a green bottle, a cute grey mouse, a blue book, and a comfortable red chair. Each card in the deck shows pictures of two objects, with one or both objects coloured the wrong way. With all players playing at the same time, someone reveals a card, then players grab for the "right" object – but which object is right?
The first player to grab the correct object keeps the card, then reveals the next card from the deck. If a player grabs the wrong object, she must discard one card previously collected. Once the card deck runs out, the game ends and whoever has collected the most cards wins!
Ghost Blitz --- regularly priced at $19.99, now on sale for $17.99 until Saturday, August 29th, 2020
Exploding Kittens is the perfect board game for adults who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats. This game is wildly popular, with more than 9 million copies sold. It’s broken records in games for kids, games for adults, and everything in between! This means that this game is GREAT for all ages! This game is similar to Russian roulette - basically, if you draw an Exploding Kitten, you lose. And if you don’t explode, you win!
We now also have Exploding Kittens NSFW (Not Safe for Work) in-store. This NSFW version of the game contains the full version of Exploding Kittens, but the artwork on each card has been replaced with content too horrible/amazing to be used in the original Exploding Kittens game. The NSFW Edition can be played with 2 to 5 players or combined with another deck to play with up to 9 players.
In 10 Minute Heist: The Wizard's Tower, players take turns moving their pawns from room to room stealing items. Players compete for most paintings, artefacts, jewels, and fossils. Players also compete for the most items valued at 3, 4, and 5. The first player to exit receives bonus points, so it's a race to the finish while simultaneously trying to get sets of items to maximize points. Be careful not to accumulate too many cursed items because they're worth negative points at the end of the game!
One Night Ultimate Werewolf is a fast game for 3-10 players in which everyone gets a role: One of the dastardly Werewolves, the tricky Troublemaker, the helpful Seer, or one of a dozen different characters, each with a special ability. In the course of a single morning, your village will decide who is a werewolf...because all it takes is killing one werewolf to win!
Because One Night Ultimate Werewolf is so fast, fun, and engaging, you'll want to play it again and again, and no two games are ever the same.
We also have Ultimate Werewolf Deluxe Edition, which is an interactive game of deduction for two teams: Villagers and Werewolves. The Villagers don't know who the Werewolves are, and the Werewolves are trying to remain undiscovered while they slowly eliminate the Villagers one at a time. A Moderator (who isn't on a team) runs the game.
Ultimate Werewolf takes place over a series of game days and nights. Each day, the players discuss who among them is a Werewolf and vote out a player. Each night, the Werewolves choose a player to eliminate, while the Seer learns whether one player is a Werewolf or not. The game is over when either all the Villagers or all the Werewolves are eliminated.
Ultimate Werewolf: Deluxe Edition features all-new artwork, a great new design, totally rewritten and more comprehensive rules, and an even better moderator scorepad. What's more, it supports more players than ever: 75 of your closest friends can converge on one or more villages using the components in this box.
BANG! The Dice Game keeps the core of the Bang! card game in place. At the start of the game, players each take a role card that secretly places them on a team: the Sheriff and deputies, outlaws, and renegades. The Sheriff and deputies need to kill the outlaws, the outlaws win by killing the Sheriff, and the renegades want to be the last players alive in the game.
Each player also receives a character card which grants him a special power in the game. The Sheriff reveals his role card and takes the first turn of the game. On a turn, a player can roll the five dice up to three times, using the results of the dice to shoot neighbouring players, increase the range of their shots, heal their (or anyone else's) life points, which are represented by nine tokens in the centre of the table. Each time a player rolls an arrow, they take one of these tokens; when the final token is taken, each player loses one life point for each token they hold, then the tokens are returned to the centre of the table.
If a player collects a trio of Gatling symbols on the dice, they fire one shot at everyone else and rids themself of tokens. Who'll get their shot off first? Play continues until one team meets its winning condition – and death won't necessarily keep you from winning as long as your teammates pull through!
